The individuals are people who love God, love His church, and are committed to helping you grow in your faith journey. Each person serves in a specific ministry area, but together they work as one team to support the life and mission of Red Bud.
Whether it’s teaching, music, outreach, finances, or spiritual care, these leaders are here to help make Red Bud truly “A Place to Belong and A Place to Grow.”
Our theme, “Continuing the Legacy,” reminds us that we stand on the shoulders of faithful servants who came before us—and now we are called to serve this generation and prepare the next.

REVEREND ODIA SILVER
Reverend Odia Silver, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, now resides in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband, Pastor John Silver. Together, they are blessed with two children, Johnny Jr. and Yolanda Perry, and are proud grandparents to four grandsons: Jordan, Johnny III, Jayden, and Justus. A devoted servant of Christ, Reverend Silver is an Associate Minister and active disciple at Red Bud Baptist Church in Henderson, North Carolina, where she serves faithfully under the leadership of her husband. She is a passionate teacher, encourager, and spiritual guide. Reverend Silver holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Philosophy from Shaw University and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Prior to her full-time ministry, she worked at IBM for over 25 years. Her ministry roles have included psalmist, Sunday School teacher, Christian Education Coordinator, Women’s Ministry Coordinator, and fervent prayer warrior. She previously served as President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Wake Missionary Baptist Association. Reverend Silver’s life mission is centered on proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, guided by Romans 1:16— “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.” Her deepest desire is to see lives transformed by Christ and to equip others to boldly share their faith. Her vision is clear: to reach, embrace, and disciple others, raising up committed followers of Christ who are ready to impact the world.
REVEREND JOHN M. SILVER M.DIV.

Rev. John M. Silver is a faithful and passionate servant of God who has dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel and building up the body of Christ. Since 2011, he has served as the Senior Pastor of Red Bud Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson, North Carolina, leading with integrity, compassion, and vision. Raised in a Christian home in Halifax County, Pastor Silver brings a deep love for the Word and a strong connection to community values. His preaching is Bible-based, Spirit-led, and focused on transformation — helping people grow closer to God and walk in their divine purpose. Before becoming our pastor, Rev. Silver served as Assistant Pastor at Riley Hill Baptist Church in Wendell, NC. There, he led youth ministry, Christian education, worship planning, and various outreach efforts. He also played a vital role in church expansion projects and was instrumental in helping the church secure funding for a new $2.8 million facility. With over 35 years of professional experience in the banking and financial services industry, Pastor Silver brings a unique perspective to ministry — one that emphasizes stewardship, leadership, and real-world wisdom. He uses his background to lead financial literacy workshops, assist churches in planning and budgeting, and develop programs that uplift the entire community. Pastor Silver holds a Master of Divinity from Shaw University (graduating with a 3.93 GPA) and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pace University in New York. He is a former Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Financial Services Auditor. He was licensed to preach in 2004 and ordained in 2007 by the Wake Missionary Baptist Association. Above all, Pastor Silver is a man of prayer, humility, and deep faith. He believes in a ministry that reaches every generation — from youth to seniors — and addresses both the spiritual and practical needs of the people. His life’s mission is to glorify God, preach the truth of His Word, and serve the church and community with love. Pastor Silver is happily married to Reverend Odia Silver. They are the proud parents of two children.
